Alisha M. Granderson was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy and a former Officer of the Deck on the USS Nathan James. In No Place Like Home, it was revealed that her mother, Amy Granderson, was still alive and was now leading the remnants of the United States Government.
She is portrayed by Christina Elmore.
Before being assigned to the Nathan James, Alisha met a girl and started a romantic relationship with her.
It is unknown if the relationship is still active or if her girlfriend is still alive.
Prior to the virus, she was assigned to the USS Nathan James by her mother, who was the vice-chair of the President's Defense Policy Board and therefore had knowledge of the Nathan James' secret mission.
Events of The Last ShipEdit
Alisha is reunited with her mother in Baltimore after receiving a Video Transmission from her. While staying at her mother's headquarters, she asks if her girlfriend was still alive and if she could visit her. Her mother asks her questions regarding Commander Chandler. (No Place Like Home)
During the battle with the HS Triton, Slattery calls for volunteers from amongst the ship's crew to form a makeshift boarding party as the Vulture team is too far away to make it back in time. Alisha volunteers alongside several others including Slattery, Meylan, Gator and Carl Nishioka. During the mission, she is teamed up with Nishioka and they enter a brief gunfight with a Greek sailor before he is taken out by Meylan. (Endgame)
Season 5 Edit
In the series finale, LCDR Granderson is one of the characters with whom Tom had served (most of them deceased,) who appears in his hallucination as he is drowning, after Nathan James sinks ramming Gustavo's Battleship in order to end the war with Gran Colombia. Tom views, and then is part of, an award ceremony for him, which also serves as a change of command ceremony for Nathan James. When President Michener asks Tom if he is ready to be relieved (as commanding officer,) Tom hesitates and wonders aloud who he is passing responsibility onto. Alisha is one of the sailors in the audience for the ceremony (who are also Tom's close friends and allies,) stand and declare that they have the watch, allowing Tom to finally achieve peace and be able to mentally and emotionally let go of both Nathan James, and of the burdens he has carried around since the plague began, secure in the knowledge that others will always be there.
Ultimately, Tom decides to keep fighting, swim to the surface, and live.
