Senior Lieutenant Asmik is the Executive Officer of the Vyerni.
Events of The Last Ship[]
Asmik is first seen on the bridge with Ruskov while he demands Comm. Chandler hand over Dr. Rachel Scott and everything concerning the Red Flu. When Ruskov later orders three of his men on a gunboat to kill two of Chandler's men and Chandler retaliates by blowing them out of the water, Asmik witnesses Ruskov order the Vyerni to pull out of the harbor while keeping the Nathan James on radar.
Asmik is next seen on the bridge where he listens to Ruskov give a speech rallying the crew that they will be the masters of the world after tonight. Asmik reports to Ruskov that Quincy succeeded in kidnapping Dr. Scott and is on his way based what he sees on the radar. Ruskov orders Asmik to let the approach and Asmik relays this, unaware that it is Lts. Green and Foster on the boat and it is loaded with explosives. Ruskov then orders Asmik to sink the Nathan James after they secure them.
After the boat collides with the Vyerni, Asmik reports that the hull was breached and at least a dozen of his men were killed. Asmik suggests they could still sink the Nathan James, Ruskov says not to bother, realizing they tricked their radar system and the Nathan James is gone through a canal they didn't know about. After the hull is repaired and they start sailing again, Asmik tells Ruskov they intercepted a message from an American "fishing boat" going to rescue a girl on a boat. While Asmik and the rest of the crew are excited when they realize it is the Nathan James, Ruskov orders them to wait and see who they send and to stay out of radar range to hide their presence. Asmik then sends two Zodiacs loaded with three men each to the coordinates the girl gave. One Zodiac is shot down and the other reports they cannot find the Americans, which infuriates Ruskov.
Asmik comes to Ruskov while he is eating dinner with Kelly Tophet and her daughter and informs his that they intercepted another radio transmission of an American ordering his men to cease any rescue operations. From this, Ruskov realizes that it was Chandler and orders Asmik to send a drone to look for him. While observing the drone the Nathan James launches a missile, destroying it. Asmik starts arguing with Dimitri before Ruskov orders them to stop and becomes more determined to find them. Ruskov threatens both Asmik and Dimitri will die if they fail to find Chandler and Asmik acknowledges Ruskov's words. (“SOS”)
When Chandler and another American, Tex Nolan, are found, captured, and brought aboard the ship, Asmik personally meets, saying Ruskov will be pleased it is really him. Asmik has Tex imprisoned and when Chandler demands to know where they are taking him, Asmik says he gives the orders, not Chandler, and has him taken to Ruskov. Asmik brings Chandler to Ruskov's quarters alongside Lt. Nikolai Zybulski and stands by Ruskov's side while he talks with Chandler.
When Ruskov hails the Nathan James and Commander Slattery answers, Asmik observes Ruskov and Slattery bargin with each other. Asmik informs Ruskov the Nathan James has agreed to his terms and orders Asmik to pick up Rachel Scott in a location out of radar range where they will pick her up by helicopter.
After Chandler and Tex escape, Asmik moves to hit the alarm before Ruskov stops him and orders him to seal the ship's exits and find them. He also orders Asmik to stay off the radios as Chandler speaks Russian and to bring him Dr. Scott. Asmik tells Ruskov they've lost propulsion and Ruskov orders Asmik to have the entire aft section of the ship covered, predicting that is where they will make their escape. Asmik starts to grow agitated, asking his men where the Americans are, and Ruskov tells him to split the men up to search the port and starboard after figuring out Chandler is onto their strategy. Asmik scrambles to command the ship as Ruskov insults the crew, including him, but is ultimately killed when the ship is blown up by the Nathan James rescue team. (“Two Sailors Walk Into a Bar”)
