Debbie Foster is the mother of Kara Green.

Biography[]

Before the Red Flu outbreak, Debbie was living in Kansas while her daughter Kara served in the US Navy. Eight months before the Nathan James left Norfolk, Kara managed to convince Debbie to move to Norfolk. After the pandemic began, Debbie stayed in her home for nearly four months before she left to help survivors in a safe located in an old bowling ally on Hancock. But before leaving she wrote a note for her daughter to find should she come back and stayed in the bowling ally for six weeks.

Events of The Last Ship[]

Season 2[]

Debbie is first seen tending to a survivor when someone calls her name and she sees Kara standing in front of her. Debbie runs over and they hug each other as Debbie asks how she got here and where she has been. Kara tells her she been on a ship that has the cure and Debbie hugs her again. While setting up, Debbie tells Kara that she hasn't had a drink of alcohol in five months, having apparently quit. Debbie introduces Kara to her boyfriend Peter, who says Debbie is the glue that hold this place together before Debbie tells him to get in line for the cure. Debbie and the others throw a bowling party to celebrate the cure arriving and personally thanks Michael O'Connor for getting the power back. Kara says goodbye telling debbie she doesn't want her living in the bowling alley when she comes back and debbie tells her she will go home to clean up the mess she made. They both hug goodbye and say they are proud of each other. Danny walks up to Debbie who reveals she knows Danny is Kara's boyfriend and Kara is pregnant, asking him to take care of both before they leave. (“It's Not a Rumor”)

Season 3[]

Debbie is taking care of her grandson, Frankie Green, while Kara and Valerie Raymond attempt to get video contact with her husband Danny. She hands Frankie to Kara and ask her to tell Danny that Frankie almost rolled over saying he is smart despite Kara saying he didn't and the call ends with Danny telling Frankie he loves him. After a coup d'etat is carried out at the St. Louis White House by the regional leaders and Allison Shaw, Kara has Debbie take Frankie and leave town the Chandler Family. They load supplies into Jed's car and Debbie tells her to be careful and they drive away. (“Scuttle”)

Debbie eventually parts ways with the Chandler Family after enough time to take care of Frankie on her own. After Shaw and the regional leaders are either dead or in prison, Debbie returns to St. Louis and introduces Danny to Frankie for the first time. (“Don't Look Back”)
