Vice Admiral Demetrius is the Commander of the Greek Hellenic Navy and leader of Athens, Greece after the Red Flu pandemic subsided.

Biography[]

During the Red Flu outbreak, Demetrius killed people until he eventually became the head of the Athens Hellenic City-State and leader of Greece's Navy. When the Red Rust outbreak occurred, Demetrius struck a deal with Dr. Paul Vellek where Demetrius would provide him with military resources from Greece and Vellek would develop a cure to the famine.

Events of The Last Ship[]

Demetrius is first seen being lectured by Dr. Vellek that the Elaeis Virilis seeds are the missing link to his formula to save the world and feed his country. Demetrius tells him that he is a simple man and his patience is growing then and asks what he else he could possibly want now and Dr. Vellek simply asks him and his country for "more". (“Tempest”)

After the seeds are recovered thanks to British MI-6 Agent James Fletcher, Demetrius sits down to dinner with him, Dr. Vellek and his daughter Lucia and asks if Vellek's compound will work. Vellek assures Demetrius it will thanks to Fletcher but Demetrius states it is thanks to him. Demetrius reveals that he doesn't like the fact the Velleks made a deal with the British for the seeds without his knowledge and worries how many others he will share his compound with. Fletcher tries to assure Demetrius that Britain has no intention of disputing Greece's stance as their deal is with Dr. Vellek, but Demetrius angrily states he is the stuff of nightmares and the Velleks work for him. Demetrius states that everything that Dr. Vellek has belongs to him and him alone as long as he protects them. When Dr. Vellek mentions he has no rivals in Europe and Britain is an ally, Demetrius yells he doesn't want allies, he wants the cure to the famine. Lucia assures him that the Vellek's relationship with Greece is their first priority and Dr. Vellek insists they enjoy dinner as they prepared Demetrius' favorite and he compliments the food while eating some bread.

After Demetrius is finished, he notices something is wrong with him and Dr. Vellek explains he turned a primal instinct in him off, making him completely docile and placid. Demetrius tries to leave to attend to his people but Dr. Vellek tells him he is staying and that he is living proof that his experiments work and has turned him into what Vellek calls "Homo Pacificus". Vellek orders Demetrius to stand up and take off his medals, stating Comm. Stavros is in charge now and will be taking Demetrius' rank, title and nation, with Vellek ruling over Stavros. After Vellek quotes Dante to Demetrius, Vellek orders Demetrius to sit down and finish his food, which he does. (“Feast”)

When Fletcher tries to see Demetrius in his quarters, Demetrius states he cannot let anyone in but when Fletcher orders him to let Fletcher in, Demetrius opens the door. Demetrius tells Fletcher that Dr. Vellek drugged him so Demetrius could no longer challenge Vellek or his plans. To test this, Fletcher orders him to stand up and slaps him repeatedly and all Demetrius does is ask Fletcher not to do it and explains Vellek told him Greece would eat and none would challenge them he didn't know about the drug until it was too late and he is the first test subject. Demetrius wishes he could get angry but he can't and tells Fletcher that he'd rather be dead than in his current state. In response, Fletcher poisons Demetrius with a hidden cyanide capsule, making his death in effect an act of mercy. (“Lazaretto”)
