Guantanamo Bay, or Gitmo, is an American military installation in Cuba where the US lock up the worst terrorists in the world.

When the Red Flu pandemic began, most of the base's personnel was said to have been evacuated. The pandemic infected most of the remaining, and only survived the isolated members of Sector 7, a secion of high level detainees, with 14 Al-Qaeda prisoners, watched by seven private security contractors. They freed the prisoners, which armed themselves and betrayed them, slaughtering them. When the Nathan James arrived to replenish their food and fuel supply, they discovered that only one private contractor, Tex Nolan, was still alive and the prison was being controlled by Al-Qaeda.
During the James's crew advance through the base, they found two dead security contractors and the landing groups were ambushed, though all attackers were soon eliminated. The last members of Al-Qaeda entrenched themselves on the food storage, and when they refused to share the reserves, the crew had to annihilate them.
Soon after, Nolan joined willingly the Nathan James' crew, becoming a member of it. Soon after, a stand off between the destroyer and the russian cruiser RFS Vyerni followed, before the Nathan James managed to elude the cruiser and escape.
