Master-at-Arms 1st Class Javier Cruz was a member of the visit, board, search, and seizure teams. Originally an MA3, Cruz was promoted to Petty Officer 1st Class in 2014.
He died after being shot while rescuing Takehaya's hostages in the episode Dog Day.
In the series finale, Cruz is one of the characters with whom Tom had served (most of them deceased,) who appears in his hallucination as he is drowning. Cruz, Frankie Benz, and Admiral Halsey (the ship's working dog,) are seen walking together and joking. Ultimately, Tom decides to keep fighting, swim to the surface, and live.
