Juan Carlos is a Spanish sailor and Immune aboard the Achilles under the command of the Ramseys.
Events of The Last Ship[]
When Ned Ramsey takes a strike team aboard the Solace to destroy the lab, Juan is one of the sailors apart of that team. After the Nathan James sends a team of people onto the ship, Ned hands Juan a flashdrive containing the locations of the labs the Navy is using to spread the cure and moves out. When the Navy loads the Solace survivors onto a boat Juan opens fire trying to stop them. Juan is hit by a sniper and reports to Ian, who implores him not to get captured. Juan tries to flee but he passes and is taken aboard the Nathan James. (“Solace”)
Juan's wounds are tended to on the Nathan James' medical bay with his hand cuffed to the bed. Comm. Slattery comes to question him every few minutes, and Juan continually asks for water while Slattery questions him. Juan keeps their real true mission a secret while revealing general information about himself and the sub he was on. When Slattery asks why Juan is in so much pain, Juan claims he was injured by one his the US Navy's men. and painting the crew as insane mercenaries he was coerced into joining. Juan lies to Slattery, telling him they thought the Solace had the cure and he thinks they are after the Nathan James for killing Ned's men. As to why they haven't fired yet, Juan claims it is to make sure they can't deploy counter measures and are insane. Juan asks to die while breathing fresh air on the deck and Slattery reluctantly allows it.
When Slattery gives him some more water and asking him more questions, Juan starts coughing up blood and Slattery realizes he has something inside him causing the bleeding. Juan reveals his true colors and brags that "his people" will find them and they have already taken Europe. Juan is taken into the cargo bay where they restrain and sedate him while Dr. Rachel Scott cuts the object out of his body. It is revealed to be the same flashdrive that Ned gave him, which contains the locations of the labs working on spreading the cure. Juan wanted to be on the deck so he could swim to the sub after it sunk the Nathan James. Juan is taken back to the medical bay where he passes away from his wounds. His blood is tested by Dr. Scott and Juan is revealed to be naturally immune to the Red Flu. (“Achilles”)
