Sergeant Malone is an Avocet sergeant under the command of Lt. Pete Norris to capture all Nathan James personnel who were docked in Baltimore.
Events of The Last Ship[]
After the state troopers take over the Nathan James, Malone leads the troopers guarding over most of the crew after they were moved into the helo bay. Malone has them all seated and orders Hutchins to have the others conduct a sweep for any stragglers they missed. When the temperature starts to rise, the sailors start angrily confronting the troopers and Andrea Garnett approaches Malone. Garnett reveals the heat is from the engines overheating and offers a deal: move the sailors to the mess hall and her engineer, Andy Chung will fix it.
While reluctant Malone agrees and has them transferred with their hands bound after Chung cools the engines. While in transit, Garnett complains about their hands being bound and Malone simply states he never promised they would be comfortable. Malone failed to realize the sailors sabotaged the engines to get them moved and allow three of the sailors to slip away undetected.
Hutchins hands Malone a photo of Quincy Tophet and his family and Malone prepares to hand Kelly and Ava to Pete Norris to make him sat where the primordial sample of the Red Flu is. Bacon blocks him and a standoff ensues where the sailors refuse to let them be taken before Kelly agrees to go with them if they leave her daughter, which Malone allows and personally delivers Kelly to Norris. Malone tells the sailors to sit down after they are done stretching their legs. The lights suddenly go out thanks to Mike Slattery and three sailors barge in with automatic rifles and gun down the state troopers guarding the mess hall, including Malone. (“Fight the Ship”)
