Nina Garside is a journalist for the New York Times sent to Colombia to interview Gustavo Barros on the war. She is later on board the Nathan James to report on the war front and the offensive against the Gran Colombian Empire. During the invasion of Colombia, she was being safeguarded by Corporal Toone on the beachhead just so she can see the action and film it. She survived the beachhead onslaught, but Toone, however, did not make it.
