St. Louis is an independent city and inland port in the U.S. state of Missouri. At the end of Season 2, it becomes the federal capital of the United States of America, replacing Washington D.C.
Events of The Last Ship[]
In the Season 2 finale "A More Perfect Union," President Michener remarks to Commander Chandler that St. Louis is the best place to establish a new capital due to its central location within the contiguous United States. The Nathan James docks in St. Louis during this same episode and spreads the contagious cure among thousands of survivors in the city.
It is revealed in the Season 3 premiere "The Scott Effect" that the federal government is now operating out of the historic Old Courthouse in the center of the city.
